Since graduating from the University of North Dakota Law School in 1977, Larry Stern has practiced exclusively in criminal and civil litigation.
For more than 4 years, he served as Chief Assistant States’ Attorney for Cass County, North Dakota, during which time he tried a full range of criminal cases – from misdemeanors to felonies. One of his felony cases was a highly publicized murder trial in which Larry successfully obtained a conviction.
Larry began specializing in personal injury litigation in 1982. Since then, he has represented clients in 25 states and tried cases to juries in 10 states. He has dedicated himself exclusively to representing victims of injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, automobile accidents, athletic event injuries, dog bites, hunting accidents and slip-and-falls. Larry has obtained million dollar awards in a number of these areas.
In one case, Larry recovered a $4,500,000.00 settlement for a 3 year old boy who was struck by a truck in a crosswalk of a recreational area. He suffered numerous injuries including the loss of use of his right arm and a brain injury. Larry also obtained a jury award for a client in Rock Island, Illinois, that was the largest verdict ever obtained in that jurisdiction up to that time.
Larry has served as a director of the Legal Aid Association and was a delegate to the national convention of the American Bar Association. He belongs to several professional organizations and is a member of the American Bar Association, the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Hennepin County Bar Association, and the Minnesota Association for Justice.
Larry is licensed to practice law in Minnesota and North Dakota.
