Elizabeth Michaelis is the founder of Guardian Counsel Law Office, assisting individuals, families, and businesses with Estate Planning, Elder Law, Business, and Nonprofit law. Before forming Guardian Counsel, Ms. Michaelis led a consulting practice specializing in strategic planning for Fortune 500 companies in the health care and pharmaceutical sectors.

Ms. Michaelis earned her J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law, and an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota. Ms. Michaelis is a member of the Probate & Trust, Elder Law and Business Law Sections of Minnesota State Bar Association, as well as the Arizona State Bar Association, the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, and Minnesota Women Lawyers.

Ms. Michaelis donates her time in Minnesota and globally. In 2006, she worked in Uganda with International Justice Mission, serving widows who have lost their land following their husband's death. In 2007, she travelled to Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where she assisted in the development of a hospital-based medical training facility for HEAL Africa.

Ms. Michaelis is a member of the Minnesota Women's Foundation Giving Circle, providing grants to benefit women and girls in the Twin Cities. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors for First Step Initiative, whose mission is to empower women of the DRC to lift themselves out of poverty with dignity through access to capital, training and information.
